Contract: Full-time
About Vita Dom
Vita Dom is a home-care company for elderly parents whose adult children live and work abroad. The children arrange and manage the care from wherever they are; trained carers deliver it at home, in Serbia, Romania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Hungary. The company was set up by REDI, the Roma Entrepreneurship Development Initiative, a Brussels-based foundation working with Roma entrepreneurs across Central and Eastern Europe.
Millions of families from the region live with the same problem: parents ageing at home, children a border or a continent away. Vita Dom exists to solve it as a business, with paid, trained, accountable care rather than improvised arrangements.
The role
You run Vita Dom. That means both sides of the market: building a workforce of vetted, trained carers in each country, and winning the trust of families abroad who will pay for care they cannot supervise in person. You own the operating model, the unit economics and the growth plan.
The company is early. Expect to do the first versions of most things yourself, then hire people to do them better.
What you’ll do
- Set the growth plan: which countries and cities to build first, at what pace, and with what targets
- Build the care operation: recruit, vet, train and retain carers; set care standards and the quality checks behind them
- Build demand: reach diaspora families through digital channels, community networks and word of mouth, and convert their trust into contracts
- Set up the machinery: scheduling, contracts, payments from abroad, and compliance with each country’s labour and care regulations
- Own pricing, unit economics and the P&L; report monthly to [the board / REDI]
- Hire country coordinators and office staff as revenue allows
What we’re looking for
- You’ve run operations in a services business where quality and trust decide everything: home care, health services, staffing, cleaning or facility services, or comparable
- You’ve built or managed a distributed field workforce and know what it takes to keep standards up when you’re not in the room
- You’re commercial: you can price a service, read the unit economics, and sell to customers you’ll never meet in person
- Languages: English, other languages of the region are an advantage
- Care-sector experience is a strong advantage; so is a connection to the communities Vita Dom recruits its carers from
What we offer
- Competitive salary package
- A company to run, not a project to coordinate
- Backing from REDI’s network across six countries
- Professional work environment
