About REDI Economic Development Fund SA

REDI Fund is a Luxembourg-domiciled development finance vehicle that provides funding to microfinance institutions (MFIs) across SEE Europe and the Western Balkans, enabling them to lend to under-served Roma entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs in Roma communities. REDI Fund has assets of approximately €10 million issued to various MFIs in the region. It is supported by development finance partners including the European Investment Fund (EIF) and Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), as well as other private investors.

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the Fund Manager, the reporting and compliance officer’s principal focus will be the fund’s reporting to its investors and the oversight of MFI reporting obligations. A central part of the role is ensuring that MFI partners report in accordance with the terms of their loan agreements and to the required deadlines. He/she will also review the accounting prepared by the fund’s external corporate services provider and liaise with various service providers as well as auditors. The role offers considerable scope to develop as the fund increases its assets.

Key responsibilities

  1. Investor reporting

– Prepare periodic reporting to REDI’s investors (including to EIF and to CEB), in accordance with each investor’s template, format and requirements.

– Monitor compliance with facility covenants (financial covenants, use-of-proceeds and eligibility conditions) and maintain a clear compliance tracker and reporting calendar.

– Compile impact and ESG data.

– Serve as a reliable point of contact for investor reporting queries.

  1. MFI reporting and monitoring

– Ensure that partner MFIs submit the reporting required under their loan agreements, in full and on time, and follow up promptly where submissions are late or incomplete.

– Manage the monthly and quarterly reporting cycle, including the collection, validation and consolidation of MFI submissions against agreed templates.

– Review MFI portfolio-quality and financial data – gross loan portfolio, PAR30 / PAR90, LLR ratios, write-offs, etc. and identify trends and signs of portfolio deterioration.

– Interpret MFI balance sheets and profit-and-loss statements.

– Maintain the reporting calendar and hold partners to the deadlines and reporting obligations set out in their agreements.

  1. Financial oversight and audit

– Review the accounting and periodic financial statements prepared by the fund’s external corporate services provider, checking for accuracy and consistency.

– Liaise with accounting and tax service providers and external auditors and support quarterly and annual statutory accounts and audit processes.

– Assist with KYC/AML and onboarding due diligence for new MFI partners, and maintain audit-ready records.

Candidate profile

Essential

– 3 to 5 years experience in financial reporting, audit, portfolio monitoring or a related finance function at a microfinance institution / NBFI / FinTech / bank.

– The ability to read, interpret and review financial statements, and confidence working around a balance sheet and profit-and-loss account.

– Strong Excel skills and a careful, methodical approach to financial data.

– Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage reporting deadlines and hold external counterparties to their reporting obligations.

– A degree in economics, finance, accounting or a related discipline.

– Excellent written and spoken English.

Preferable

– Experience in financial modelling, risk or investor relations.

– Experience working with, or reporting to, development finance institutions (for example, EIF, CEB, EBRD or IFC).

– Familiarity with portfolio-quality metrics (PAR, write-offs, gross margin) and with covenant or facility-agreement reporting.

– An accounting or microfinance qualification, completed or in progress (for example, ACCA or an equivalent local qualification).

– One or more regional languages — Serbian, Albanian, Macedonian, etc.

– An interest in impact investing, financial inclusion, or Roma inclusion.

What REDI offers

– A central role within a growing, mission-driven fund, working closely with the Financial Director and Fund Manager.

– Direct exposure to leading development finance institutions and responsibility for the reporting relationship with them.

– Scope to develop into a broader finance and reporting role as the fund scales.

– Flexible, hybrid working arrangements, based in the region, with the option to begin on a part-time basis.

– Compensation: €1,000 – 3,750 gross subject to country-specific benchmarks and initial time involvement.
